The Black Russian Faces a Quandary: House of the Beast 8

Not to be deterred by his brush with death, THE BLACK RUSSIAN hurls his helmet-dagger at THE STEVE, but the blade bounces off the beast's leathery hide!

Suddenly, the newly knighted SIR POOPSMITH bursts onto the scene!

"A fresh horse for you, courtesy of Lord Seltzer! Fear not for your flank – WE GOT THIS."


So saying, he wheels his horse about and leads the PANTALOONIANS in a GLORIOUS CHARGE AT THE STEVE!



THE BLACK RUSSIAN leaps onto his fresh mount and calls for his men to join him – the PRISONER is in trouble, judging by the cries ringing out from the CLIFF. THE BLACK RUSSIAN dashes past the reunited FARMERS and around the corner at the head of his crew. MISTER BULLY-HAMMER ESQUIRE stands, bashing a wayward CANNIBAL into submission. Just beyond him, the PRISONER has climbed to the top of the CLIFF – shouts ring out from the other side – he has been spotted by the CRUSADERS!

"Footmen! Seize him!"


CRUSADER CROSSBOWMEN stumble up the other side of the CLIFF, towards the PRISONER.



But wait! Suddenly, something catches BLACKBEARD THE SLAV's eye. There is a blur of movement behind him, at the back of the PANTALOONIAN CHARGE – the MERCENARY CAVALRYMAN provided by the MERCHANT'S GUILD is not charging with the rest of the PANTALOONIANS, but perpendicular to them. His lance is leveled AT THE UNSUSPECTING MASTER MENDICANT, leader of the BEGGARS' GUILD and holder of the PANTALOONIAN STANDARD!

 

 

WHAT TREACHERY IS THIS?! If the standard goes down, who knows what chaos would would break out in the PANTALOONIAN ranks?



What will THE BLACK RUSSIAN do?


1. The PRISONER takes priority!
Shout a word of warning to MASTER MENDICANT and hope for the best as you rush to climb the cliff and save the PRISONER.

2. Traitorous bastard!
Shout to your men to climb the Cliff and save the PRISONER, then wheel your horse around and charge that good for nothing MERCENARY CAVALRYMAN before he can hit MASTER MENDICANT!

3. Together, we'll take him alive!
Shout for the PRISONER to leap off the Cliff and join you, then rally all of your troops and charge the MERCENARY CAVALRYMAN – together, you might have a chance of taking him alive and learning who he's working for.

4. King of Stinging Lobsters, hear my cry!
Shout to the KING OF STINGING LOBSTERS to ignore the MONKEY KILLERS and turn his attentions to one of these new crises so you can focus on the other.

LORD JARRITOS calls for the distant SWORD MONKEY! Hearing that it's murderous services are required, the SWORD MONKEY nimbly dashes across the ruins and leaps onto LORD JARRITOS supersweet CANNON CHARIOT.   With its new simian crew member, the CANNON CHARIOT is more deadly than ever (+ 2 dice). However, LORD JARRITOS'S enemies have had time to regroup – in the field in front of him, he sees the strange SNAKE WOMAN march her troops out of the JUNGLE and into the FIELD, where they come face-to-face with the CANNIBALS. THE BLACK RUSSIAN doesn't have time to mince words. He shouts his warning to MASTER MENDICANT, and then wheels around and charges the CRUSADERS, waving for the KING OF STINGING LOBSTERS to flank them! His valiant steed leaps over the surprised heads of the ensorcled BLUE BASHERS and smashes into the unsuspecting CRUSADER CAVALRY! The crash of the impact rings across the battlefield! THE BLACK RUSSIAN is thrown from his horse! The CRUSADER KNIGHT flies backwards, armor shattering to pieces! The BLUE BASHERS finish him off before he can get to his feet… THE BLACK RUSSIAN leaps back onto his noble steed and takes stock of the situation. Behind him, the remaining CRUSADER KNIGHTS face off against – a SKELETON HORDE and some kind of MONSTROUS BUTLER?
